The USAID Local Works: Safal project, led by SAPPROS Nepal with sub-partners Patan CBR and RCDC-Nepal, aims to improve socio-economic opportunities for marginalized communities in Mahankal Rural Municipality and MadhyaNepal Municipality, respectively. The project seeks to benefit 800 people directly and 3,200 indirectly by fostering locally led development and focusing on inclusion, resilience, and federalism. The project employs three major pathways: I. Improved livelihoods II. Promoted voice and participation and III. Strengthened state and civic engagement.

The project will focus on localization by empowering local communities and governments to lead decision-making, ensuring alignment with municipal priorities. Inclusion is at the core, targeting women, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens through skills training, leadership development, and equitable access to services. Resilience is enhanced by promoting sustainable livelihoods, such as value chain development and market linkages to strengthen economic stability. Aligned with Nepal’s federal governance structure, the project builds municipal capacities for participatory planning, transparent service delivery, and inclusive governance. This holistic approach ensures sustainable, inclusive, and resilient development.
