Professional Profile: Nani Shova Shakya is a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Dietitian and academician, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the College of Applied Food and Dairy Technology (CAFODAT) since 2021 , following a long tenure as Senior Dietitian at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital from 1986 to 2020. She holds a Master’s degree in Home Science and a Post-Diploma in Dietetics , and has pursued advanced studies in specialized areas such as Surgical Nutrition, Renal Nutrition, and Nutritional Support in Critical Care. Her expertise is deeply rooted in public health, notably through her involvement as a Dietitian in various community development programs focused on the education, management, and prevention of Diabetes Mellitus. As a respected figure, she has been a frequent Speaker and Resource Person at national and international health and nutrition conferences , and currently holds a leadership role as the President of the Nepal Dietitian Association. Her commitment to evidence-based practice is demonstrated by her research publications in journals like The Lancet and Nepalese Medical Journal.
