Support Activities for Poor Producers of Nepal (SAPPROS Nepal) is a national level non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) established in August 1991. It is one of the well recognized NGOs in Nepal which has reached in 51 districts in the past 26 years. The main objective of SAPPROS is to implement poverty reduction programme in the country. SAPPROS very much believes in people’s organization, local resource mobilization, participatory planning, and adoption of right process which can materialize only through proper facilitation. SAPPROS commends the benevolent donor organizations like WFP, UNICEF, UNDP, UNESCO, DANIDA, GiZ, IFAD, RWSS Fund Board, USAID, UKAID, PAF, WINROCK, iDE Nepal, Renewable World ADB, CECI, PACT, CBM, CAFOD etc. who have helped us in gaining useful experience in implementing the projects in a true spirit.
With support from the above partners, the Government of Nepal, and with own resources, SAPPROS-Nepal has been promoting various technologies for farmer’s income generation, food security and agriculture commercialization. As of date, SAPPROS has promoted technologies like plastic green houses for vegetable production, micro irrigation technology (water harvest tanks, drip and sprinkler systems, etc.), solar dryers, pheromone traps, jibatu, poultry hatchery machines and many more. Such types of technologies have been helping the farmers in increasing their income and ensuring food security. Short descriptions of these technologies are described hereunder:
